Schenectady, N.Y (WRGB) —The Capital Region values its historical roots while continuing to evolve to meet the needs of a growing community. Few places illustrate that transformation more dramatically than Mohawk Harbor. Today, the bustling riverfront destination along the Mohawk River is home to restaurants, hotels, housing, offices, entertainment venues, and Rivers Casino & Resort. But for generations of Schenectady residents, the 60-acre site along Erie Boulevard stood as a reminder of the city's industrial past. For more than a century, the property was home to the American Locomotive Company, or Alco, which manufactured railroad equipment and military vehicles before closing in 1969.
