BCONE is Calling for Presentations, Ideas, Speakers for Our 2024 Northeast Sustainable Communities Workshop Being Held in Morristown, New Jersey

Calling all innovators and thought leaders! Showcase your expertise and make a lasting impact at our upcoming conference in Morristown, New Jersey (September 24 and 25), where our organization first began. Share your insights, inspire others, and be part of a dynamic event that brings together top minds in the industry. Submit your technical presentation today and join us in shaping the future of environmental remediation and sustainability!

We are looking for a variety of topics for our 60-minute panels which address all of our member states from Maine to Maryland. Case studies should be included in your presentation. Suggested topics are included below with an eye on overall benefits to communities through sustainable and resilient redevelopment: 

  • Redevelopment in Environmental Justice Areas with Overall Benefits to the Community
  • New Green and Sustainable Characterization and Remediation Technologies 
  • Brownfield Financing Funding/Layering/Financial Incentives 
  • Opportunities, Funding, Challenges and Strategies for Small Town Redevelopment
  • Affordable Housing
  • Emerging Contaminants
  • Resiliency Planning and Strategies: Climate Change, Solar, Wind, Flooding 
  • Future Economic Trends and Transformation in Commercial and Residential Redevelopment Projects 
  • The Latest Brownfield Assessment and Cleanup Approaches 
  • State Regulatory Updates - CT, MA, NY, NJ (or other mix of 4 states)
  • Technical Assistance Programs 
  • Other Topics

Sessions should be compelling, relevant, educational and thought-provoking. When submitting your application please be mindful of the following:

    1. Preference will be given to panels with an innovative, interactive format that actively engage participants beyond the typical Q&A at the end of a session. 
    2. We are looking for panels consisting of presenters who represent various sectors, perspectives, geography and gender diversity. 
    3. Your panelists should have experience speaking in front of a large audience.
    4. There can be no more than three presenters and one moderator on a panel (we will have a new sponsorship level where companies can sponsor and moderate a panel). 
    5. A panel cannot have all presenters from the same company. Allowable is one presenter and one moderator from the same company.
    6. We discourage the use of PowerPoints that contain all of your talking points. 
If you have a great idea, but don’t have a full panel, or have an idea of a perfect presenter, but don’t have a connection with them, please let us know and we can assist you in making the connections. We appreciate your assistance in developing this Conference and thank you for your submission, ideas and suggestions. 



Application Process:

Your submission must be made using the following form: https://bit.ly/2024NSCWCallforPresentations

When completing the Submission Form, please provide as much of the following information as you are able to at this time (preference will be given to panels with complete information):

  • Session Length: 60-minutes, including time for Q&A.
  • Session Title: An interesting title will help make your proposal stand out.
  • Session Description: The description should be no more than 250 words, including session purpose and goals, focusing on what makes your session compelling.
  • Learning Objectives: Describe up to 3 learning objectives in 20 words or less for each. 
  • Moderator: Moderators play a key role in engaging both the speakers and attendees and play an important role in developing the session. Moderators will be selected from companies that will sponsor the panel. Please let us know if this option interests you. If not, we will assign a moderator to your panel.
  • Presenters (Maximum of 3 on a Panel): Include Name, Company/Organization, Address, Email and Phone number. Please also indicate if each presenter has agreed to be on the panel, someone you will approach for your panel, or a suggestion. Remember, you cannot have two (2) or more presenters from the same company on your panel.
  • Session Diversity: In 100 words or less, identify how the proposed speakers represent diversity in (1) regional geographic coverage, (2) discipline, (3) perspective, (4) gender and ethnicity, and (5) public and private sectors.
Expenses: Conference Presenters will need to register for the Conference at a greatly-reduced Presenters' Rate. Presenters are not required to sponsor the conference; however, sponsorship is greatly appreciated and allows us to continue to provide a superior educational and networking experience.

Deadline: The deadline for submission is Thursday, May 16, 2024, at 5:59pm ET, so please submit your presentation ideas as soon as possible as there will be no extensions. All those who submit an application will be notified of the Program Planning Committee's decision by May 31, 2024.
